Access Theatre Collaborations

Over the years Access theatre have had the opportunity to collaborate with many established companies and talented artists. We value working with others to develop skills and experiences. Some previous collaborations have included; Theatre Royal Plymouth, Funky Llama, Rogue Theatre, Odd Bodies, Shallal Dance Theatre, Sterts Theatre, Attik Dance.

Previous shows

Founded in 2006, Access Theatre has performed every year. Participants have been supported to sing, dance and act on stage at a variety of venues and festivals around the South West.

A Tale of Two Worlds

A people splintered by distrust and misunderstandings. One half stays in the village on the coastal cliffs and the other half takes to the seas. The magic that once sparked in the village is lost. Each year, for one day, the ship returns and magic is rekindled, but for that day only. Love blooms. And over the years a forbidden love grows. Can forbidden romance, magic and forces of nature reunite the two peoples? Inspired by the exhibits at Bude Heritage Centre and forbidden love stories like Romeo & Juliet.

A people splintered by distrust and misunderstandings. One half stays in the village on the coastal cliffs and the other half takes to the seas. Each half chooses a leader, the village elder and the ship captain. Both groups also have people who fall in love in each generation. Featured in the ‘A Tale of Two Worlds’ performance in July 2026.

A Christmas Carol

An adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Christmas classic set in a not too distant future. Ebenezer Scrooge is a greedy landlord who owns thousands of properties, evicts people, never fixes anything and raises rents. All he cares about is making money until he is visited by three ghosts who show him the error of his ways.

Ever-After Adventure

Welcome to Everwood, where all your beloved fairytale characters live after their story has ended. Cinderella became a fashion designer, Robin Hood and Marion set up an archery school, and Jack opened a plant shop. Until one day when their happily ever afters are stolen! The three little pigs and Prince Charming track down the culprit and find that Snow White is responsible—she wanted all the magic to herself.

Trouble at the North Pole

Santa’s elves are at odds and have had to be split into two workshops to stop all the arguing. Meanwhile, rumour has it that a mysterious beast is prowling about the North Pole scaring elves and causing trouble. When Santa goes missing, the elves pull together to catch the beast and ensure presents are delivered on time.

“God”ness Gracious Great Musical Madness

Everyone is being pulled into musical theatre numbers and no one knows why! After a week of dancing constantly, the residents go searching for the cause and discover it was the Gods who felt humans needed more fun, without considering how exhausting singing and dancing all the time would be.

Christmas Beach Adventure & Shadow Puppetry

Combining shadow puppetry, live acting, and dance about stars, moon, and tides. A group of friends overwhelmed by Christmas shopping head down to the beach and discover a magic cave transport. They find a realm where Christmas was hidden away by a sky-sailing pirate who turned out to be Santa Claus restoring the true meaning of Christmas.

Three morning show hosts invest in a time machine and showcase their explorations through time. They encounter Dinosaurs, Joseph from the Bible, and three Elvis Presleys performing in a 1950s American diner.

Band on Tour in Cornwall (Devised Project)

Access began work on a devised summer show following a music band on tour around Cornwall. Project paused due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Access Rocks – A Christmas Special

A group of Christmas carollers are offered the chance to perform to an arena audience in London when a big concert booker is looking for an opening act. The carolling group go on a road trip to London and rock the show!

About Me About You

An Arts Council funded project about the company members own stories with live performances in December ’18 & April ’19, a film and a festival performance at Funky Llama in June ‘19 . Directed by Paul Morel.
